AIA Architect Washington DC
An AIA architect is a DC architect that is licensed to practice architecture that is a member of the American Institute of Architects. There are over 80,000 licensed architects in this organization and many others who are also members. An AIA architect is the person that works with you to design and build the structure you want.
If you decide to hire an AIA DC architect, it would be very beneficial for you to know the process in which they take you through. This process is called The Five Phases of Design.
This first of the five phases is to originate. During this phase, you put together all of your ideas, discussions, thoughts, and explorations and come to the conclusion that you need to build something new. Once you make your decision about the new project, you then decide if hiring an architect would be the best thing to do to get the project completed.
The second phase called focus. In this phase, you define the project in detail. It’s during this phase when you need to make a definite decision to use an AIA architect or not, because the architect can take the details and you can start working together. With an architect, you can start to develop the “vision” you have of this new structure. Also, during this phase, you will begin a relationship with your architect and you can identify all of the services that you require him or her to do for you.
If you choose to use an AIA DC architect, you will most likely put together a team that will all play a role in getting your project completed right.
The design phase is the third phase of the five. Once you tell your DC architect your “vision” of the structure you want, they can draw it out for you and give you the shape so that you can further develop your vision. When you are in this phase, it is very important for you to give your input. And, an AIA architect will be sure to incorporate your inputs into the design. Once you start to discuss the construction of your project, the design phase ends.
The fourth phase is the building process. Here, you can expect the contractor(s) of your team to be the most active member of your compiled team. Communication between you and your AIA architect and the rest of your project team is very crucial, as it can lead to a successful build on the first attempt.
An AIA architect will most likely discuss any changes or options that you should consider to make sure that they fit into your vision of the structure. With everything going on, the building phase can be the most stressful.
The last stage, occupation, is the phase when your project is nearly completed and you give it your “stamp” of approval. Here, your AIA architect will go over all of the specifications to make sure that your vision is complete. Also, an AIA architect will discuss all of the future costs of the building due to maintenance and other factors. For these reasons, it is a good idea to keep a positive relationship with your AIA DC architect.
If you have a need to build something new, an AIA architect in Washington DC can help make your vision come true.
